Specifications of Microstar Sandpaper
With a unique stearate layer as well as a smooth film backing, it offers a high-quality finish. Mirka products last long-term, and unlike traditional discs, Microstars don’t clog. The abrasive creates a fine scratch pattern that’s simple to polish out if needed. We recommend using a Microstar disc with an interface pad of 5mm for perfect results.
The white-colored film has low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and resin bonding, too. Resin bonding is where dried aggregates scatter onto a coating of resin. Professionals apply the resin to the base and then place the aggregate material over the top before it settles.
Microstar discs have an aluminum oxide grain, semi-open coat and a polyester film backing that leave a consistent finish on your project’s surface. When you invest in Mirka sandpaper, you can trust it will cut quickly and remove various finishes via polishing.
If you are looking to remove runs, excess orange peel from finishes and dust nibs before buffing or repainting, Microstar is your solution! Using the abrasive results in an even scratch pattern, and you can use it on materials like hardwood, paint sanding and soft and resinous wood along with veneer, solid surfaces, lacquers and MDF and HDF.
Our Inventory of Mirka Microstar Products
National Abrasives, Inc. is an authorized dealer of various manufacturer products, and our inventory includes Mirka Microstar 6-inch sanding discs. Our stock also contains Mirka Microstar 3-inch film backed discs, both ranging from 800 grit to 2,000 grit.
The Mirka Microstar 1,500 is a finer grit to create smoother surfaces as opposed to lower grit products. The highest level of grit can reach up to 3,000 and is one of the finest, while 16 is the lowest, and it forms rougher surfaces. Superior grits are ideal for glossy and shiny finished surfaces, and the lower numbers are for stripping and heavy sanding. The middle range is for removing imperfections of various facades.
National Abrasives also has the Mirka Microstar 2,000 and the Mirka Microstar 2,500 which are one notch below the finest abrasive — perfect for refurbishing your car or another unit that requires fine-grained solutions.
